Candles and candle holders

A tapered candle (20) and a tapered candle holder (10) arranged to receive the candle (20). The tapered portions of the sides (21) of the unburnt candle correspond to the tapered portions of the sides (16) of the candle holder prior to and after insertion of the candle into the candle holder. In use, wax and waste material from the candle (20) pass through an aperture (15) at the base of the candle holder (10) into a catching means (48). The candle holder (10) can be reused repeatedly without the need for cleaning or replacement of the candle holder (10).
