A memory module is provided to assure extendability of memory capacity with low cost or in a high speed, by reducing the number of signal lines between memories and between an information processing unit and a memory. A memory module has a plurality of memory devices including a first and a second memory device. The plurality of memory devices is serially connected with each other. Each memory device receives a request including identification information of a requested memory device, and outputs a response to the request by including identification information of the memory device. The second memory device is connected to the rear of the first memory device. The first memory device transmits the identification information included in the request to the second memory device, and receives the identification information included in the response outputted from the second memory device. |
