Relates to control equipment for an electric vehicle comprising a storage battery and a motor 1, wherein a multi-speed gearbox 2 having gear-change lever 16 is disposed between the motor and subsequent transmission system, and wherein a foot pedal or hand lever controlled switch 9 is in the motor circuit, said switch having a plurality of positions including a neutral position, the equipment further including relay 15 for automatically switching on and off the motor current, respectively, on engagement of a gear and on assumption of a neutral gear-condition. When the lever 16 is moved to engage gears 24, 18, contact 5 is closed to energize relay 15. Depression of pedal 9 closes the motor circuit, initially through resistor 10, and then directly. To change gear, the pedal 9 is released and returned to the neutral position, the lever 16 then being moved to engage gears 24, 19, so that contact 4 closes to re-energize the relay 15. An over-current relay 8 has contacts in series with the relay 15. In another arrangement, the pedal 9 controls relays in the motor circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown).</p> |
