A horizontal type LED is provided to enhance extraction efficiency by reducing design restricts of a heat-sink in a package. A first semiconductor layer(13) is positioned on a substrate(11) and includes an opening surface. A light emitting layer(15) is positioned on the first semiconductor layer. A second semiconductor layer(17) is positioned on the light emitting layer. A first electrode(21) is positioned on the opening surface of the first semiconductor layer. A second electrode(23) is positioned on the second semiconductor layer. A heat-radiating unit is positioned on the opening surface of the first semiconductor layer. The heat-radiating unit is positioned around the first electrode. The heat-radiating unit is formed with a heat-radiating layer(31) for covering a periphery of the first electrode.
