An origination processing method of a mobile communication terminal and the mobile communication terminal are provided to change an international connection number and a country code automatically for a telephone number according to country ID information received from a base station, thus a user can make desired calls even though the user does not exactly know the international connection number used in a country where the user is located. A memory(100) stores at least one piece of country ID information, country codes equivalent to the ID information, at least one international connection number equivalent to the country codes, and at least one telephone number equivalent to the country codes. If origination is requested at a random telephone number, a controller(200) extracts a country code equivalent to country ID information received from a base station to compare the extracted code with a country code included in the telephone number, and decides whether the corresponding number is an international telephone number or a domestic telephone number, then processes the origination at the changed telephone number according to the decided results.
