FIELD: metallurgy, possibly casting steel in billet continuous casting machine. ^ SUBSTANCE: billet includes body and head with cylindrical packaging tube secured to sealing plate in its end. On sealing plate truncated tetragonal pyramid with height h = (0.43 - 0.52)H (H - height of packaging tube) is arranged in addition; said pyramid is not secured to sealing plate and packaging tube, it is made of steel rods with diameter d = (0.07 - 0.15)h and is divided by three similar intervals Ah along its height. Faces of pyramid are inclined relative to plane of sealing plate by angle 65 - 80. ^ EFFECT: enhanced cohesion of solidified metal layer and seed package, increased useful life period of seed at starting casting, shortened emergency idling periods, lowered quantity of rejected products. ^ 2 cl, 1 dwg |
