A projection system and a control method for controlling the same are provided to provide a power level adjusting unit, a power source, and a power supply control unit and adjust an output of a light source according to power, thereby effectively using a power source. A projection system includes a power level adjusting unit(20), a power source(10), and a power supply control unit(50). The power level adjusting unit adjusts a level of power supplied to a light source unit. The power source applies power to the power level adjusting unit. The power supply control unit determines a kind of power source and controls a power supply unit for supplying power of level different from the light source unit according to a kind of determined power source. The power source has an AC(Alternating Current) adapter or battery.
