An image background music insertion device of a mobile communication terminal and a method are provided to insert a lot of background music according to a user's selection to output the inserted music when reproducing the taken video, and to play the music again after storing the music together with the video, thus the user can freely select desired background music to insert the selected music into video. A sound input unit(21) converts an analog sound signal inputted from a microphone into a digital type. A video input unit(22) converts an analog video signal inputted from a camera into a digital type. A memory unit(23) stores the converted sound and video signals. A background music storage(24) stores background music. When the video signal is reproduced and outputted, a reproduction processor(25) outputs the signal by reproducing the background music as well from the storage(24). A video output unit(27) converts the video signal into an analog type to output the converted signal. A sound output unit(26) converts the sound signal into an analog type to output the converted signal.
