To increase the bio-availability of minerals, in a first stage of treatment, a microorganism extract is mixed with mineral(s). In a second, the mixture is concentrated. In a third stage, the concentrated product is spray-dried. The microorganism extract is from a yeast, particularly originating from a strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae or Saccharomyces Boulardii. The extract is in hydrated form, is a powder, microgranules, lyophiles, or it is spray dried. The mineral includes Ca, K, Mg or trace elements. It is mono-, tri- or hexavalent, containing e.g. Fe, Zn, Mn, Cr, Cu or Li. It is an inorganic salt which can be hydrolyzed, e.g. a chloride or sulfate. It is organic, a citrate, fumarate, gluconate or a lactate. Suitable salts corresponding with the foregoing are listed. Mixing is preferably at 20[deg]C-30[deg]C. Concentration is by evaporation under vacuum, or by membrane nanofiltration, reverse osmosis or constant volume diafiltration. The membrane filtration threshold is 100-300 Daltons, preferably 150-250 Daltons. During atomization the product is dried in contact with an airflow at preferably 170[deg]C-190[deg]C. An independent claim is included for the corresponding food product. |
