<p>A scribing device for forming scribing lines on a work formed of a brittle material is provided to allow a cutter to vibrate merely along the longitudinal direction while inhibiting the cutter from vibrating along the transverse direction. A scribing device for forming scribing lines on a work(11) by imparting vibration to a cutter(12) comprises: a vibration generating member(14) for generating vibration; a shaft(15) to which the cutter is attached for transferring the vibration of the vibration generating member to the cutter; a guide member(28) for guiding the linear movement of the shaft along its central line; and a load adjusting member(17a,17b) for adjusting the load applied to the work from the cutter, wherein the guide member guides the shaft moved by the load adjusting member and vibrated by the vibration generating member.</p> |
