<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having excellent color reproducibility in wide viewing angle and free from the observation of color shift even in oblique view of black display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has: at least a liquid crystal cell which has a pair of oppositely arranged substrates, at least one of which has an electrode, and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the substrates and having controlled orientation and in which an electric field including a component parallel to the substrate having the electrode is formed by the electrode; and a pair of polarizing plates arranged to hold the crystal liquid layer. The liquid crystal cell includes three pixel domains and color filters arranged on the three pixel domains, and the color filters arranged in at least two pixel domains among the color filters arranged on the three pixel domains are mutually different in Rth. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
