PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing tacking between a belt supporting roll and a belt member, capable of maintaining the effects with time at low cost and with a simple constitution, and also capable of preventing the occurrence of an abnormal noise. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the endless belt member (B), a pair of belt supporting rolls (T2) arranged facing each other across the belt member (B); a high-releasability tacking preventing member (2) extending in the belt width direction of the belt member (B), and also fixed to the belt member (B); and a belt driving means for stopping the belt member (B) while the tacking preventing member (2) is held in a nip area (Q4) formed by the pair of belt supporting rolls (T2).
