PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new electrochromic display of which the characteristics such as response speed, repeatability, chemical stability, tolerance to environmental conditions and so on are improved. SOLUTION: An electrode active material layer 4 composed of a radical polymer, an electrolyte layer 6, and an electrolyte layer 5 are interposed between a pair of electrode substrates 1a, 1b, the electrode active material layer 4 is formed on the electrode substrate 1a, and the electrochromic layer 5 is formed on the electrode substrate 1b.
