PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystalline film capable of suppressing foreign matter having adverse effect on alignment of liquid crystal and substances becoming a contamination source which are produced from a rubbing cloth, having excellent quality, in respect to the liquid crystalline film obtained by performing alignment of liquid crystal and fixation of the alignment by forming a thin film of a liquid crystal material on an aligning substrate made of a plastic film or sheet subjected to rubbing treatment, and to provide a manufacturing method of the liquid crystalline film. SOLUTION: The liquid crystalline film is provided by performing rubbing treatment using a rubbing cloth made of a napped member which is washed by water of temperature 40 to 80°C.
