PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition which is capable of controlling the generation of aldehydes such as formaldehyde generated from a machinery member (especially a machinery member using a synthetic resin containing formaldehyde such as a urea resin, melamine resin, phenol resin and the like) used in factories, residences, office buildings, vehicles such as an automobile, ships, airplanes, electric appliances and the like, absorbing, adsorbing and/or decomposing aldehydes and of reducing the concentration of formaldehydes whithin a room and the like. SOLUTION: In the grease composition containing a base oil, thickener and formaldehyde suppressing agent, it is characterized by containing a basic nitrogen containing compound.
