<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an imaging apparatus by which successful white balance is easily performed without being affected by light of a light emitter. <P>SOLUTION: Color temperature is calculated (S1) based on image data picked up by a CCD 5 and proper exposure is calculated based on luminance components of the image data (S2). Then, whether or not it is necessary to perform exposure compensation is judged (S3) and when it is judged that it is necessary to perform the exposure compensation, an exposure compensation amount is calculated (S4). Then, ratio of light intensity to be emitted by each LED 18 is set, respectively so as to become the calculated color temperature (S5) and each LED 18 is light-emitted based on the calculated exposure compensation amount based on the set ratio of light intensity emitted by each LED 18 and the calculated exposure compensation amount (S6).
