<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which a solenoid suppressing the driving current to a necessary minimum can be used and energy saving can be realized. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a paper conveyance direction inverting means for inverting the conveyance direction of a recording medium in order to perform both side printing, the solenoid for driving the paper conveyance direction inverting means, a paper discharge presence or absence detecting means for detecting the presence or absence of the paper discharge from a fixing device existing in the upstream of the paper conveyance direction inverting means, both side conveyance section paper presence or absence detecting means for detecting the presence or absence of the recording medium in the both side conveyance section, a time measuring section which measures thereafter time when the recording medium passes through the paper discharge presence or absence detecting means before arrives at the both side conveyance section paper presence or absence detecting means, and a control means for controlling (S10) the time after the recording medium passes through the paper discharge presence or absence detecting means before the solenoid is driven so as to be made shorter than the predetermined time, when the time measured by the time measuring means is longer than the predetermined time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
