PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl polymer having a functional group at the terminus, and a method for producing the polymer, and further to provide a curable composition using the polymer. SOLUTION: The vinyl polymer has a silanol group, a hydrolyzable silyl group or an acryl functional group at the terminus. The method of producing the vinyl polymer having the hydrolyzable silyl group at the terminus thereof comprises reacting the vinyl polymer having the silanol group at the terminus thereof with a silicon compound having two or more hydrolyzable groups. The method of producing the vinyl polymer having the acrylic functional group at the terminus thereof comprises reacting the vinyl polymer having the silanol group at the terminus thereof with a silicon compound represented by the general formula: XSiR<SB>2</SB>-G-O-C(O)C(L)=CH<SB>2</SB>(wherein X is a hydrolyzable group).
