PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throw-away tip remarkably improved in chipping resistance of a cutting edge. SOLUTION: The throw-away tip has: a base material 2 having the cutting edge 5 formed in a crossing edge part with a main surface presenting a substantially plate shape and forming a rake surface 3, and a side surface forming a flank 4; and a coating layer 6 coated on a surface of the base material 2. The throw-away tip 1 is manufactured by making bonding strength of the coating layer 6 in a honing lower end area A extending in the direction separating from the rake surface 3 from the honing tail end of the flank 4, higher than bonding strength of the coating layer 6 in a central part B of the flank 4, while arranging honing over the flank 4 from the rake surface 3 of the cutting edge 5.
