PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement stopping device of a mobile body, which reduces a damage incurred at least by the mobile body, by stopping the mobile body being moved by a linear motor with the minimum movement and by moving the mobile body in an excellent state when supplying a power source. SOLUTION: The movement stopping device of a machine tool is provided with: the mobile body guided by a support and moving by the linear motor 13; a driven body moving by a servomotor 26 so as to be driven with the mobile body in a state of having a predetermined clearance between the motor and the mobile body; and a starting time control means 34 forming the predetermined clearance, by returning the mobile body to the origin by moving the linear motor 13, after returning the driven body up to the origin, by moving the mobile body together with the driven body by driving the servomotor 26, in the state of stopping driving force of the linear motor 13 when supplying the power source.
