PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape-keeping container suitable for producing a colloidal crystal gel having an excellent orientation property on an optional substrate and a method for producing the colloidal crystal gel by using the shape-keeping container. SOLUTION: The shape-keeping container has a tight adhesion face to be tightly adhered to the object substrate, a shape-keeping groove which is opened to the side of the fast sticking face and in which a predetermined solution is held above the object substrate, and first and second flow passages for connecting the shape-keeping groove to the face opposed to the tight adhesion face.
