PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To be resistant to material effect without changing the incoming and outgoing angles of rod-shaped food to improve detection sensitivity to pieces of metal. SOLUTION: A detection means 16 is arranged on a stand 17 so that a detection coil 16a is angled at a first tilt angleαin the plan view with respect to a transfer direction X of a transfer means 15. The first inclination angleαis changeable. An angle regulation means 14 is provided which changes the angle of the rod-shaped food 2 input to the transfer means 15 nearly perpendicularly with respect to the transfer direction X so that the rod-shaped food 2 enters between the detection coils 16a at a second tilt angleβand restores the angle to be nearly perpendicular to the transfer direction X when the rod-shaped food 2 is discharged.
