An apparatus and a method for planning the capacity of a system by using transaction processing information are provided to improve the efficiency of utilizing statistical information by using the transaction processing information collected by a transaction processing monitor. An apparatus(200) for planning the capacity of a system by using transaction processing information includes a file handling unit(21), a database handling unit(22), a database(25), a system information collecting unit(23) and a system capacity estimating unit(24). The file handling unit arranges transaction process information files, which are stored according to processes, by services and time, merges the files by data and servers, and performs reformatting. The database handling unit extracts statistical information data from the file which is reformatted by the file handling unit, converts the extracted statistical information data to the data type which corresponds to the pre-planned database, and stores the data. The database stores the statistical information data under the control from the database handling unit. The system information collecting unit collects and stores the use rate of resources between an application server and a database server. The system capacity estimating unit analyzes the correlation by mapping the use rate of resources collected by the system information collecting unit and the statistical information data stored by the database handling unit, and estimates the capacity of the application server and the database server by regression analysis.
