<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving apparatus and a receiving method capable of relieving a processing load by likelihood update processing. <P>SOLUTION: The receiving apparatus for carrying out decoding by a turbo coding system, receiving a reception signal denoting any of the prescribed number of known signal points, and discriminating which known signal point the reception signal indicates, includes: a known signal point candidate selection section 214 for selecting a plurality of most likely known signal point candidates indicated by the reception signal among the known signal points; a likelihood update means for repetitively updating the likelihood of the reception signal as to each of the plurality of selected known signal point candidates; and a hard decision section 227 that discriminates which of the known signal point candidates the reception signal indicates on the basis of each likelihood updated by the likelihood update means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
