<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing instrument which gives a proper fitting feeling to a user, and which reduces a sense of fatigue by extension. <P>SOLUTION: In this writing instrument, a gripping part 10a is provided on the front side of a barrel 10, and a between-fingers abutting part 10b is provided on the rear side of the gripping part 10a. The abutting part 10b comprises an inclined annular protrusion 11 which annularly protrudes in a centrifugal direction on a nonidentical circumference, and an inclined groove 12 which is arranged on the front side of the protrusion 11 along the protrusion 11.
