<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing instrument which can give a user a proper fitting feeling throughout a barrel, without reference to individual differences such as the size and shape of his/her hand, and a writing posture. <P>SOLUTION: In this writing instrument, a gripping part 10a is provided on the front side of a barrel 10, and a between-fingers abutting part 10b is provided on the rear side of the gripping part 10a. The writing instrument is formed in such a shape as to almost imitate a fingertip-side shape of the user's hand when he/she grips the gripping part 10a in the writing posture, and as to almost imitate a shape between the thumb and index finger of his/her hand when he/she grips the abutting part 10b in the writing posture.
