PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine with an embedded permanent magnet in which sound and vibration can be reduced by reducing torque ripples. SOLUTION: Outer circumference of a rotor 15 is connected by a convex portion 20 connecting the circumferential portions 19A and 19B of radius R around the center C of rotation and adjoining circumferential portions 19A and 19B. The convex portion 20 connecting the edges 193 and 192 of the circumferential portions 19A and 19B is formed by connecting three lines H1, H2 and H3 which form convex corners H11 and H12 of obtuse angle projecting toward radial outside of the rotor 15. The convex portion 20 projects radial outside of the rotor 15 in a region between a virtual circumferential surface E including the circumferential portions 19A and 19B and the line H (excluding the virtual circumferential surface E and the line H).
