PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a frequency converter which has a function of performing transmission and reception while performing frequency conversion, and power-amplifies and sends out a transmission high-frequency signal. SOLUTION: A detector 10 is connected through a directional coupler 9 connected to a first transmission/reception terminal 1, and the detector 10 detects the transmission high-frequency signal supplied from communication equipment A. By a detection output of the detector 10, the operation of a transmission power amplifier 4 which is supplied with electric power from a DC power source 8 to operate is on-controlled, so that the transmission power amplifier 4 is driven only during transmission to suppress or avoid the power consumption of the whole device during reception, thereby saving electric power.
