PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To get rid of a motion judder due to a 2-3 pull down without changing a circuit for interpolating a video and a driving period of a back light with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: There is provided a video display device; in which a 2-3 pull down reference signal detection means 102 detects an original frequency (24 Hz) from an input video signal and flickers a light source at this frequency or the multiple thereof and therefore, even if the frame rate of the video signal is not changed, the motion intrinsic to the video having no motion judder by the 2-3 pull down can be reproduced as it is.
