The tool has a detachably arranged cutting plate (2) comprising an undercut shaft (8) that serves as a retaining unit and is arranged at a side opposite to a cutting edge. The cutting plate is insertable and mountable in a tool holder by an adapter (1) that is formed as a cutting plate holder. The adapter has a recess (4) that accommodates the cutting plate and is formed through an installation surface (5) and a supporting surface (6). A groove (7) is included in the supporting surface, and a slot (9) is provided over entire size of the adapter from a base of the groove.
