The method involves exclusively exchanging messages by automating devices, and clearly and exclusively marking message telegrams in respective protocol headers. The message telegrams are transmitted independently of a procedure of prioritized message transport based on IEEE 802.1p/Q with highest priority after a strict priority queuing strategy on a part of coupling units. An independent claim is also included for an Ethernet network with a network infrastructure that is realized by coupling units.
