PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which can record data with high precision on a recording layer of a large magnetic coercive force without heating, and a magnetic recording and reproducing device equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 16 has the main pole 20, a front recording shield (auxiliary magnetic pole) 22, a rear recording shield (auxiliary magnetic pole) 23, a main coil 24 provided on the main pole 20 to generate a perpendicular recording magnetic field, and an auxiliary coil 26 to generate an in-plane ac magnetic field of a microwave band frequency on the main pole 20.
