PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting method suitable for adhering open cell type expanded resins and for connecting water cut-off materials each other, whose base material is open cell type flexible urethane foam, and to provide a method for constructing water cut-off structures, using the connecting method. SOLUTION: A first water cut-off elastic body 5 is freely removably inserted in a groove 4 on a connecting end surface 2 of one of box culverts 1 to be connected each other. A second water cut-off elastic body 6 is connected on the connecting end surface 3 of the other box culvert 1 so as to correspond to the first water cut-off elastic body 5. The water cut-off elastic bodies 5, 6 comprise a water swelling urethane foam. On a state of infiltrating a prepolymer for the hydrophilic polyurethane into the first and second water cut-off elastic bodies 5, 6, the box culverts 1 are adjacently set each other so as to be compressed state.
