PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring an actual time of use during which an electronic endoscope is actually used. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope 10 is equipped with a detecting part 5 which is mounted on or incorporated in the electronic endoscope 10 to detect the movements of the electronic endoscope 10 and a control part (a first CPU15) for measuring the actual time of use showing the cumulative time of the state of the actual use in which the electronic endoscope 10 is connected to a video processor 30, energized, and used based on information on the movements from the detecting part 5. The detecting part 5 is an angular speed sensor, and the control part (the first CPU15) determines that the electronic endoscope 10 is in a state of the non actual use where the electronic endoscope 10 is not actually used if an output value from the detecting part 5 remains within a certain range for a certain continuing period of time, and measures the actual time of use by eliminating the time of state of the non actual use.
