PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod capable of keeping the initial state for a long period to keep good usability. SOLUTION: The fishing rod 10 has a butt plug 14 to prevent the falling off of a middle section rod 8c. The butt plug 14 is provided with a butt plug ring 18 made of a hard material and having a body part 22 fixed to the rear end of the butt section rod 12 and a collar part 26 protruding inward from the rear end of the body part to form an axial through-hole 24, and a butt plug cap 20 made of a soft material and having a front wall 40 and a rear wall 42 engaging with the tip end side and a rear end face of the collar part 26 and a connection part 44 to be inserted into the through-hole 24 and connecting the front wall 40 and the rear wall 42. The butt plug ring 18 has integrally formed restriction walls 36, 38 to be inserted from the rear end face of the collar part 26 into the rear wall 42 of the butt plug cap 20 to restrict the deformation, and a decorating plate member 52 harder than the butt plug cap 20 is placed in a recess 46 formed in the rear wall 42 of the butt plug cap 20 and opening backward.
