The method according to the invention comprises the steps: a) reducti on of at least one part of the iron(III) oxide and/or iron(III) hydroxide us ing at least one reductant that contains at least one hydrocarbon; and b) se paration of at least one solid phase of the reaction mixture from at least o ne liquid and/or gaseous phase, the solid and/or liquid and/or gaseous phase comprising at least one valuable product that at least contains magnetite a nd the reductant comprising methane and/or natural gas and/or ethanol and/or carbon.
