PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material composite in strip form; to provide its manufacturing method; to provide its use; and to provide a composite sliding element. SOLUTION: The invention encompasses a material composite in strip form, in which a layer consisting of a copper multicomponent alloy is permanently joined to a steel supporting layer, where the copper multicomponent alloy is composed of: 1.0 to 15.0 wt.% Ni, 2.0 to 12.0 wt.% Sn, remainder Cu and inevitable impurities, optionally up to 5 wt.% manganese, optionally up to 3 wt.% silicon, optionally individually or in combination up to 1.5 wt.% Ti, Co, Cr, Al, Fe, Zn, Sb, optionally individually or in combination up to 0.5 wt.% B, Zr, P, S, optionally up to 25 wt.% Pb.
