PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method of fabricating the same in which characteristics of a thin film transistor is improved. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device may comprise on a substrate 201: a semiconductor layer 215 including a channel portion 215a and ohmic contact portions 215b at both sides of the channel portion 215a, wherein an edge portion of the semiconductor layer has a side surface of a tapered shape; a gate insulating layer 220 covering the semiconductor layer 215; a gate electrode 235 positioned on the gate insulating layer 220 and corresponding to the channel portion 215a; source and drain electrodes 250 and 253 coming in contact with the semiconductor layer 215; and a pixel electrode 270 coming in contact with the drain electrode 253.
