摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nucleic acid molecules and proteins useful for regulating the expression of genes in eukaryotic cells and organisms. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is a nucleic acid encoding a fusion protein inhibiting transcription in eukaryotic cells, wherein the fusion protein comprises (a) a first polypeptide which is a tet repressor that binds to tet operator sequences in the absence of tetracycline or tetracycline analogs, but does not bind to them in the presence of them, and which is functionally linked to the following (b); and (b) a second heterologous polypeptide inhibiting transcription in eukaryotic cells.
