PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user agent apparatus which is operable pursuant to a session initiation protocol (SIP). SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a user agent apparatus operable pursuant to a session initiation protocol (SIP). This apparatus facilitates use of a globally routable identifier while maintaining anonymity of the user agent. The apparatus comprises a requester configured to generate a register request, the request being populated with values indicating a request for a public globally routable identifier and an anonymous globally routable identifier, and a response detector configured to detect a response to be returned to the user agent in response to the request generated by the requester.
