PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact water heat exchanger having relatively simple construction for instantaneously boiling hot water by greatly improving heat exchanging performance while reducing resistance to water to be distributed. SOLUTION: The water heat exchanger 10 comprises a shell 12 formed in an angularly cylindrical shape by mounting an inlet portion 18a and an outlet portion 18b which are each in a trapezoidal shape gradually narrower outward, at both opposed ends of a shell body 16 in a flat, rectangular and angularly cylindrical shape, respectively, and a heat exchanger tube 14 formed in a meandering-like shape as a whole by connecting the adjacent ends of a plurality of straight tube portions 22 arranged in parallel at certain-distance spaces, alternately to each other via hair-pin shaped portions 24 curved in a U-shape. The heat exchanger tube 14 is stored and arranged in an internal space of the shell 12 so that the direction of the length of the straight tube 22 is almost perpendicular to the direction of water flowing in the shell 12.
