PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide this type of hydrostatic bearing unit having improved bearing rigidity and load capacity with lower cost while securing high supporting accuracy. SOLUTION: A radial bearing surface 7 of a bearing member 2 which forms a radial bearing gap 4 between an outer peripheral face 3a of a shaft member 3 and itself, is formed of the face (the inner peripheral face) on the precipitation starting side of a first metal plated layer 8 which is obtained by being precipitated on an outer periphery face 14a of a master 14 with nonelectrolytic plating.
