Disclosed is a yarn prepreg comprising a yarn that is embedded in a plastic matrix, the individual filaments of the yarn being fully surrounded by the plastic matrix. The inventive yarn prepreg is characterized in that the crystallinity of the yarn ranges from 5 to 50 percent, the average degree of polymerization D_p of the plastic material in the plastic matrix is no more than 7000, and shrinkage of the yarn prepreg, which is determined by means of hot air shrinkage according to the International Bureau for the Standardization of Man-Made Fibers (BISFA), 1995 edition, is less than 12 percent.
