<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy in the detection of abnormalities of electric wire, and to reduce the labor on the part of inspector in the inspection of the abnormalities. <P>SOLUTION: In this abnormality detection method of the electric wire by the electric wire detection processing for detecting the photographed part of the electric wire as a target image from the photographed original image of the electric wire and image processing, which performs abnormality detection processing of the electric wire calculating representative values at the pixel positions in respective horizontal directions, from the color data values of respective pixel rows in the vertical direction held between two ideal contour lines of the electric wire calculated from the target image and presetting an upper limit threshold value and a lower limit threshold, based on the average value of the representative values to detect the pixel positions in the horizontal directions, where the representative values exceed the upper limit threshold or the lower limit threshold value as an abnormal place, even when the representative values are smaller than the lower limit thresholds in the abnormality detection processing of the electric wire, the pixel position in the horizontal direction that is smaller than a second lower limit threshold preset to a value lower than the lower limit threshold will not be detected as abnormal place. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
