<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane effectively reducing thermal stress and mechanical stress. <P>SOLUTION: A shell exterior surface of an air foil defines a leading edge 28, a trailing edge 30, a pressure side 32 and a suction side 34. First and second cavities 90, 92 are defined by seals 80, 82 which are provided between a shell interior surface and an exterior surface of a structural spar 52 in a shell. An inner wall 104 of the spar divides a spar interior into first and second chambers 110, 112. Air is fed from ports of a platform and a shroud to the chambers from which the air is fed to the cavities 90, 92. The ability to introduce air of different pressure and/or temperature to the two chambers adds flexibility in the selection of appropriate air flow rates, temperatures, and pressures in the cavities 90 and 92 so as to effectively reduce thermal and mechanical stresses. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
