<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the shock resistance of a piezoelectric/electrostrictive device. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric/electrostrictive device 10A is equipped with a ceramic base body 16 having a pair of thin plates 12a and 12b which are opposed to each other, a fixing part 14 which supports the thin plates 12a and 12b, and movable parts 20a and 20b on the tip ends of the pair of thin plates 12a and 12b. Parts opposed to the fixing part 14 in the movable parts 20a and 20b are formed stepwise and steps 210 are provided on respective attaching surfaces 34a and 34b. Cuts (notches) 212 are formed in the respective vicinities of the thin plates 12a and 12b on the inner wall of the fixing part 14.
