<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an image forming position having the least density variation and also to accurately perform image density correction control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: image forming units 10Y, 10M, 10C and 10K forming toner images of respective image forming colors on photoreceptor drums 1Y, 1M, 1C and 1K; an image density sensor 12 detecting the density of the toner image of every color formed on the photoreceptor drum by the image forming unit; and a controller 15 correcting color image density based on density detection information obtained from the image density sensor. The controller selects the image forming position having the least the density variation on the photoreceptor drum, and controls the image forming unit so as to form the toner image for density correction of the color image at the selected image forming position on the photoreceptor drum. By such constitution, the density correction of the color image is performed on the basis of the density of the toner image formed at the image forming position having the least density variation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
