<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometrics system and method for suppressing the dispersion of biological information. <P>SOLUTION: This biometrics system is provided with: an IC card 5 for storing information; a registration client 3 for reading biological information, and for generating one or more types of codes corresponding to the biological information, and for registering them in the IC card 5; and an authentication client 4 communicatively connected through a network 2 to an authentication sever 1 for performing predetermined user authentication including authentication using the biological information, for reading the biological information of the object of authentication, and for reading the predetermined codes from the IC card 5, and for generating an authenticator for user authentication by using the read biological information and the read codes, that is, the authentication client 4 for deciding which of the authentication client 4 and the authentication server 1 should perform principal authentication, and for, when deciding that the user authentication should be performed by the authentication client 4, performing the user authentication, and for, when deciding that the user authentication should be performed by the authentication server 1, transmitting it to the authentication server 1, and for receiving the authentication result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
