PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample holding member which enables the efficient measurement of emission under various conditions such as the measurement of multicolor emission or the like. SOLUTION: The sample holding member 2 is constituted of a microplate 20 having a plurality of wells 21, which respectively hold a sample, arranged thereto in a two-dimensional array state and the filter member 30 provided so as to be fixed at a predetermined position where the emission from the sample held in each of the wells 21 of the microplate 20 transmits. Further, the filter member 30 has a plurality of optical filter parts 31 arranged in a two-dimensional array state so as to correspond to a plurality of the wells 21 of the microplate 20 and a plurality of the optical filter parts 31 respectively have light transmission characteristics with respect to the wavelength corresponding to a wavelength selectivity necessary for measuring emission.
