PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery improved in low temperature properties.

SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery provided contains predetermined amount of a specific lithium metal oxide and/or lithium metal sulfide in its negative pole mixture containing carbon based negative pole active material, and excels in output properties at low temperature. The battery is used for power sources of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles etc. offering high power, not only at room temperature but also at low temperature.
